It looked like it was taped at the studio Idol is in just before the show. Some people may have seen in live as we could hear some music while waiting in line. At one point they had let a bunch of the pit folks in and then asked them to come back out. There was so much going on with set changes and stuff that they might just have needed to tape it.

They had sent out an email to go to watch Katy perry perform for the finale cuz it was going to be taped I never saw one for Luke or I would have tried to go. The voice does that sometimes to with their celebrity performances so strange lol sorry you didn't get to see him sing

It was worth the very long day for sure! The only somewhat bummer was that the songs Luke sang were taped and we didn’t get to see him sing live! But it was a lot of fun seeing so many of the artists’ family members there (a whole crew from Maddie’s family sat in the row in front of us!) and it was great seeing Luke and Lionel interact with the audience. Lots of selfies! Plus all of the guest artists! Can’t wait to watch it all again on my DVR’d copy!
