What next? 🔥💨🔥
It’s going to be a crazy, windy day with the horses - 35 mph winds are forecast. Those will be fanning a wildfire in north Scottsdale.

@jsodowsky That’s my biggest problem-not drinking enough water. Not drinking anything, really. My friend is always telling me to drink more and giving me different options. I just don’t want anything to drink so he stays on me about it. He has always worked outside and has a great selection to keep hydrated. He actually told me about the hydration powder 😃

@wildcatfanone You did the right thing! ❤️👍🏼
You don’t want to go to the ER for heat exhaustion. It’s no fun and very expen$ive!

@KathyT That humidity would be a killer for me. I have dehydration problems here and our humidity is very low except for July & August. We spend so many hours in the heat, I take a lot of vitamins and an ER dr recommended I drink a medical grade hydration powder mixed with water and that has kept me out of the ER getting IVs. 👍🏼 I can’t drink anything with caffeine tho so I had to give up my beloved coffee & sweet tea.
I haven’t had to go to the ER since 2016, so the sacrifice has been worth it!😊

@jsodowsky He doesn’t seem to have any problems with it. I personally can’t stand it. You walk out and the heat smacks you right in your face. Don’t go shopping because you have to deal with getting back into a car that’s 100 degrees 😡 I always said you can always put more clothes on if you’re cold but there’s only so much you can take off when you’re 🥵 And yes ma’am, the humidity sure is a killer. 🤬 💞

@KathyT He must like the heat better than the cold! But boy...that humidity takes some getting used to. Does he have trouble with dehydration?

@jsodowsky I’m 20 miles from Orlando. We really didn’t pay attention to the hurricanes at the time. My husband just decided in January of ‘05 that he didn’t want to work outside in the cold anymore. So it was August that we moved so that he could work outside in the extreme heat😂
I’ll sure never figure it out 😭

@Karen Petty Wright Trust me, they freak me out too and they are so hard to spot - they blend right in to the sand. If a horse gets struck, they can die - it’s nothing to fool around with. My heart was pounding!
Scorpions are the other bad thing but their bite isn’t fatal, just VERY painful.🚫🐍🦂

@KathyT I guess it was a good thing you didn’t move there in 2004 - 3 hits, wow. Those hurricanes don’t fool around.
I’ve only been to Fla 4 times - 2 times in Orlando when I was working in a program to receive a judging promotion and 2 times in Tampa Bay when I was judging dressage shows.
Luckily the weather was always good when I was there. ☀️🌴😎

@jsodowsky I’m in Central Florida so we always get something left over from the east or west coast. Irma was here in 2017 when I left for Pittsburgh to meet Luke! 2004 was the year this area got hit with 3 in a row. We moved here in 2005. I guess we’re in a hit or miss as far as direct hits.

@jsodowsky Yes you are right. I have been out in it all day and not being used to the heat it started to get to me so I quit delivery and decided to stay home. I did have water and had my ac on but getting in and out of the car is what was getting me.

@wildcatfanone What a rollercoaster ride you’ve had with the weather there in the last year. It can be very changeable from one day to the next is what I remember.
I guess you can say it’s never boring.🙄

@KathyT I’ve heard that an early and bad hurricane season is predicted. Are you in an area that might be affected? Those hurricanes are terrifying - I was trying to get out of North Carolina 2 years ago when Hurricane Florence hit.
VERY SCARY!

@BethelLuvsLuke As far as I know there’s been no loss of life from the 2 fires but about 100 homes had to be evacuated. Neither fire is contained yet bc of the wind.
I hope tomorrow is an easier day for the firefighters.🙏🏼

@Stephjoyner This must be the year of the wind! The worst part of today was seeing 2 rattlesnakes on 2 different horses- lucky I saw them in time to stop!🙄
Sometimes you have to be happy about what doesn’t happen!

@Karen Petty Wright I think the horse in your gif had the right idea - just lounge around and chill out. 😂
The wind wasn’t fun, a 2nd wildfire popped up, and I encountered 2 rattlesnakes today.😳
Tomorrow will be better!👊🏼

@North country Nope, not a fun day.
Lots of wind, which made for cooler temperatures, BUT a second fire popped up in north Scottsdale. To top it off I encountered 2 rattlesnakes on 2 different horses - Ugh!🐍
Tomorrow will be better...I hope!😬

@wildcatfanone The wind never helps with the wildfires...a 2nd one popped up and neither is under control yet.😟
Because of the wind we do have cooler temperatures, so it’s a trade off. More wind tomorrow...

@jfbabyblue40 it was not a fun day but I survived!✊🏼
On top of dealing with the wind I also encountered 2 rattlesnakes while on 2 different horses today.🐍
I felt very lucky I saw them and stopped the horses bc they were both within 3’ of where we were.
