@annl0106 We have a gal that comes to the barn at night to turn out some horses overnight when it’s cooler and in the winter, she blankets the horses.
She is also the one who turns out, feeds, gives medications, etc on those rare times we go to a Luke concert. We know she’s conscientious and dependable!💕
Juan arrives at the barn about 4:30am & in the summer I try to get there by 5:30am so we need to get home in the afternoon. We don’t have grooms to help us tack up. By the time they are really helpful and efficient, they decide the work is too hard, they don’t want to get up that early, and/or it’s too hot, and they want to make as much $ as we do.🙄
It’s just easier to do it ourselves and we work together well as a team when one of us needs help.
It’s a crazy job but it’s our passion.😜

@jsodowsky you have a very busy schedule! do you have any other people helping you? I've never heard you say you took a nap! between all that you do and your very hot weather, no wonder you felt drained today!

@annl0106 Theoretically, yes, BUT remember the new horse that came in? Right now he’s adding about 2 hours on to my day. All the sights are new & he has to get used to 5 different places to ride with all the different sights & sounds. That takes up a lot of time for awhile. He’s a big - 17.1 - energetic horse so I use up a lot of energy riding him.
I still have my other horses and regular lessons in the 110 degree heat. Yesterday & today I was so tired I laid down & took a nap - very uncharacteristic for me but I’ve been feeling t I r e d.😵
Things will be easier once he settles in!

@jsodowsky my ear issue is starting to resolve, thanks to some ear drops! if you are starting work earlier, shouldnt you be done earlier?!

@North country your hair must be so long! enjoy the pampering! this is our hottest week so far, in the high 80s. we have the AC on, because mike goes so hot while hes working upstairs. is be fine with the windows open
